FAQ

HEALTH & BREEDING

  • All breeding dogs complete recommended health clearances prior to breeding, including:

    • OFA hips

    • OFA elbows

    • OFA cardiac

    • Breed-relevant genetic testing

Health testing is completed before any breeding takes place, and documentation is available for review.

  • Each pairing is evaluated individually based on temperament, health clearances, structure, and long-term compatibility.

We review multi-generation pedigrees and avoid close lineage overlap to support genetic diversity and reduce inherited risk factors.

  • We do not breed on a set schedule.

Litters are planned intentionally and only when the timing is appropriate for the dog’s health, maturity, and recovery.

  • No. We do not produce litters year-round.

Availability varies and often involves a waitlist, as each litter is planned rather than produced continuously.

PUPPY RAISING

  • All puppies are born and raised in our home, not in kennels.

They are handled daily and exposed to real household environments from the beginning.

  • We implement Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) during the first weeks of life, along with daily handling, early potty training, and structured exposure to household activity.

This helps support confidence, adaptability, and overall development.

  • Puppies are started on early potty training before going home. This gives families a strong foundation to continue training.

TEMPERAMENT & BREED TYPE

  • We specialize in field-type Golden Retrievers.

    They tend to have:

    • a more athletic build

    • a functional coat

    • strong engagement with people

They thrive in active homes and settle well with proper structure and exercise.

  • No.

When their physical and mental needs are met, they are calm, stable companions who enjoy being involved in daily life.

  • No. We do not select breeding dogs based on color.

Coat color does not determine temperament, health, or trainability.

CARE & LIFESTYLE EXPECTATIONS

  • We recommend feeding a high-quality, balanced diet appropriate for your dog’s age, size, and activity level.

We are happy to share what we feed and provide guidance for transitioning your puppy once they go home.

  • Golden Retrievers are an active breed and benefit from daily physical and mental exercise.

    Field-type Goldens especially enjoy:

    • walks and hikes

    • training and structured activities

    • being included in daily routines

With proper exercise and structure, they settle well indoors and are calm, steady companions.

  • Golden Retrievers are a double-coated breed and will shed year-round, with heavier seasonal shedding.

Field-type Golden Retrievers typically have a more moderate, functional coat, but still require:

    • regular brushing

    • occasional bathing

    • routine maintenance

BREED TYPE & COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS

  • Golden Retrievers are one breed. Terms like “field,” “show,” and “English Cream” describe breeding focus or appearance, not separate breeds.

    • Field lines tend to be more athletic, with a functional coat and strong engagement

    • Show lines tend to have heavier structure and fuller coats

    • “English Cream” is a marketing term referring to lighter-colored coats, typically from certain conformation lines

Color does not determine temperament, health, or behavior.

  • No.

While we carefully select for temperament, structure, and health, no breeder can guarantee exact adult color or personality.

Our focus is on raising stable, well-rounded dogs suited for family life rather than predicting specific traits.

POLICIES & COMMITMENT

  • No. We do not ship puppies.

We believe placement should be intentional and personal to ensure the right fit.

  • Any dog we breed should be returned to us. We take responsibility for the dogs we produce throughout their lives.

  • No. Our dogs remain part of our family.

  • Select dogs are placed in local guardian homes while remaining part of our breeding program.

These dogs live full-time as family companions, and breeding only occurs if all health and temperament standards are met.
